Soccer Seasons

The NW Kickers is a member of the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA), the governing body for youth soccer in our state. As such, soccer seasons are set by MYSA for the Kickers and all other member clubs. The seasons are as follows.
Spring Season
Spring is the main season for traveling soccer, for players ages 9-19. The season runs from early April through late July. The start and end dates, as well as the playoff dates, are set by MYSA. Competition is among MYSA member clubs. Tryouts for the Spring season are held each Fall. Players are evaluated, placed on teams, and are then set for the upcoming Spring season. Securing placement on a team without attending tryouts is an option only if there is space remaining on that team.
Summer There is no traveling soccer season in the Summer. The Brooklyn Park Athletic Association (BPAA), a city affiliated youth sports organization, offers recreational Summer soccer for those interested. Fall Season
Fall is the second season for traveling soccer, and is held only for traveling players ages 9-14. Older players are typically playing on high school soccer teams. MYSA sets the Fall schedule, which typically runs in September and October. Placement on Fall teams is offered first to players participating in the Spring season, and remaining spots are then made available to other players.
Winter
There is no traveling soccer season in the Winter. The Kickers offers indoor training in the Winter to help players keep their skills sharp for the Spring season. To participate in our Winter training, you must be registered for a Spring Kickers team.
Please note that the traveling soccer seasons apply only to players age 9-19. Younger players can participate in the Little Kickers (ages 5 & 6) or Junior Kickers (ages 7 & 8) programs. See the Little Kickers / Junior Kickers tab for more information.
